Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ): TCMSv3 MySQL Software

Introduction

This article is prepared to explain further on frequently asked question regarding new TCMSv3 MySQL software.

1.    What is TCMSv3 MySQL?

TCMSv3 MySQL is the upgraded version of FingerTec's TCMSv3 software that uses a MySQL database backend instead of Microsoft Access (MDB), offering improved stability, scalability, and performance for large deployments.

TCMSv3 MySQL directly supports Face ID 5, Face ID 6, and Kadex+ devices, eliminating the need for the separate AWDMS software. However, please note that TCMSv3 MySQL is strictly for time attendance purposes only and does not support access control functions.

2. What are the system requirements to install TCMSv3 MySQL?

- Operating System: Windows 10, Windows 11, Windows Server 2016 and equivalent

- Processor: Intel i5, Intel i7 or Higher

- Memory: Minimum 8GB of RAM or Higher when using the latest model that requires middleware (RAM needs to be increased if heavy processing is expected especially with a higher number of devices and software running on the server).

- Recommended: 16GB RAM for optimal performance.

- Hard Disk: 250GB - 500GB (Better opt for SSD)

(Compulsory for the latest device models: Face ID 5, Face ID 6, Kadex+, etc *ATT Mode only*)

3. Which FingerTec device models are supported by the system?

All Fingertec device models intended for time attendance use are compatible and can be connected to the new TCMSv3 MySQL software.

4. Is the old TCMSv3 (MDB) still supported?

Yes, we still provide support for TCMSv3 MDB. However, no further development or feature updates will be released for it.

5. Can I migrate from the old TCMSv3 (MDB) to the new MySQL version?

Yes, migration is possible. You may submit your TCMSv3 MDB database to support@fingertec.com, and our team will handle the conversion process on your behalf.

6. Is the conversion tool provided to end users or resellers?

No, the conversion tool is not provided directly to end users or resellers. If you wish to convert your own database, you can purchase the ESF Migration Toolkit from the official link below:

7. Can TCMSv3 MySQL be used in a client-server setup?

Yes, TCMSv3 MySQL supports a client-server architecture. We recommend installing up to 5 TCMSv3 clients to connect to the server for optimal performance and stability.

8. What MySQL version is supported by the new TCMSv3 MySQL?

The new TCMSv3 MySQL is bundled with MySQL version 8.0.37. We do not recommend upgrading the MySQL version beyond this, as doing so may cause redundancy or compatibility issues with the software.
