INTRODUCTION
Upgrading the Ingress software and its underlying MySQL database is a critical process to ensure that your system remains secure, performant, and compatible with the latest features. This guide provides step-by-step instructions for upgrading your Ingress installation from MySQL 5.5.8 to MySQL 8.2, ensuring a smooth transition while minimizing downtime and data integrity risks.
By the end of this article, you’ll have a better understanding of how to perform the upgrade with minimal disruption and ensure that your Ingress software is running on the latest MySQL version.
PROCESS
1) Backup Ingress and AWDMS database using SQLyog Community Software
SQLyog Community Installer
a) Install and launch SQLyog Community and connect to the database server where the Ingress and AWDMS databases are located.
b) Select the Ingress database from the left-hand panel.
c) Right-click on the selected database and choose “Backup/Export” and "Backup Database As SQL Dump" from the context menu.
d) Click on the "Export" button to start the backup process.
e) Wait for the backup process to complete. Depending on the size of the databases, this may take some time.
f) Repeat the same steps for the AWDMS database.
2) Copy and paste ‘upload’ folder to a new location as a backup
This upload folder contains user photos downloaded from the device. In case the user photo is missing after the installation and you cannot download the photos from the Face ID5 terminal, you can restore this folder as a backup.
Please backup or copy the whole "upload" folder from:
C:\Program Files\BioSecurity\service\zkbiosecurity\BioSecurityFile\upload.
3) Cancel AWDMS License
If your AWDMS has been activated before, you need to cancel the license in AWDMS software so that you can use the same license. To cancel the license: Run AWDMS software > Click About (i icon) > Click Cancel.
4) Uninstall Ingress, AWDMS and MySQL Software
Once the backup is completed, you can uninstall Ingress, AWDMS, and MySQL software from the Control Panel.
5) Delete MySQL Folder
After uninstalling the MySQL software, it is compulsory to delete the MySQL folder inside C:\Program Files (x86) and C:\ProgramData. To view the ProgramData folder, you need to enable View Hidden Items.
6) New installation of Ingress and AWDMS software.
A. Ingress Software Installation.
Download the installer for the Ingress server from the link below. You must extract the zip file before proceeding with the installation. Ensure you complete the MySQL installation before installing the Ingress software.

B. AWDMS Software Installation.
Download the installer for AWDMS software from the link below. You must complete the AWDMS installation before running the AWDMS Setup Tool. Refer to the complete guide for AWDMS installation:

7) Restore Ingress and AWDMS Database Using SQLyog Community Software
a) Launch SQLyog Community and connect to the database server where the Ingress and AWDMS databases are located.
b) Select the Ingress database from the left-hand panel.
c) Right-click on the selected database and choose “Import” and "Execute SQL Script" from the context menu.
d) Browse the Ingress backup database file and click Execute to restore the database.
e) Wait for the restore process to complete. Depending on the size of the databases, this may take some time.
f) Repeat the same steps above to restore the AWDMS database.
8) Restore “upload” folder
After restoring the database, copy the “upload” folder that was backed up in Step 2 and paste it into:
C:\Program Files\BioSecurity\service\zkbiosecurity\BioSecurityFile\
9) Run Ingress DB Installer
After completing the database restoration, please run Ingress DB Installer > Key in MySQL password > Test Connection > Update Connection > Upgrade DB > Database Upgraded Successfully > OK > Click Close
10) Run AWDMS Setup Tool
Go to the AWDMS Setup Tool folder and double-click on AWDMSSetup.exe. Press any key to start AWDMS setup. When completed, press any key to exit.
NOTE: Your computer screen might flash a few times, just click “Yes” at the popup dialog box to continue.
Next, right click on awdms.bat and Run as administrator > Press any key to start running the batch file. When completed, press any key to exit.
