Reinstallation Ingress – Resolving unable to start MySQL service during Ingress installation

At various junctures, Ingress may encounter crashes, errors, bugs, or compulsory upgrades to the latest software version. In such instances, reinstallation becomes necessary to rectify these issues. The reinstallation process entails several steps, including the uninstallation of Ingress and MySQL 5.5. However, an error may arise during this process, as illustrated below. This issue can persist even if MySQL 5.5 has already been installed on your PC.

The issue is caused by the inability of your PC to read the newly installed MySQL.

Below are the steps to ensure that the reinstallation goes well without recurring any error related to MySQL Server Instance Configuration.

  1. Ensure that you have already uninstalled both the Ingress and MySQL 5.5 in the ‘Control Panel’ > ‘Program and Features’.

Next, delete these MySQL folders from the designated locations.

  1. Local Disk (C:) > ProgramData > MySQL (ensure that you have already untick hidden items to reveal folder ProgramData).

  1. Local Disk (C:) > Program File (x86) > MySQL > MySQL Server 5.5 (delete this folder)

  1. Run the Ingress-Setup installer as in the link below and follow the direction from the link (from step 4) https://support.timeteccloud.com/portal/en/kb/articles/complete-guide-on-how-to-install-ingress-software-with-mysql-database

  2. A successive MySQL Instance Configuration Wizard will be prompted as follows. At this point, the MySQL wizard has already been installed.

  1. Next, you can proceed with the Ingress installation as in the link given in point (2).
