Enhancing Car Park Management with Accurate LPR Installation and Layout Guidelines

Introduction

Efficient car park management requires precise planning and installation of key components, including License Plate Recognition (LPR) systems, barrier gates, and wiring infrastructure. By adhering to standardized dimensions and best practices, operators can ensure seamless entry and exit experiences while maintaining safety and system efficiency.

Process

  1. 1. LPR Installation Guidelines

The proper placement of the LPR camera is essential to capture vehicle information accurately. Here are the critical considerations:

  1. a. Main ID Placement: The installation must avoid obstructions in the camera’s view. Preferably, it should be installed at the center of the island or adjacent to the lane.

  1. b. Island Dimensions: A minimum size of 14 feet is recommended, though this may vary based on site-specific equipment, such as canopy structures or signboards.

  1. c. Lane Size: A standard width of 3.5 meters is typical but may depend on the agreement between the client and the service provider.

  1. d. Barrier Distance: Ensure a distance of approximately 1.5 feet from the barrier to the LPR for easy access to the barrier gate door.

  1. 2. Lane and Loop Specifications

To enhance vehicle detection and traffic control, loop dimensions and lane layouts must be precisely executed:

  1. a. Island Size: Start from a minimum of 13 feet depending on site requirements.

  1. b. Loop Dimensions: Standard loop sizes are 2 feet by 5 feet, with 1.5mm 28-strand cables. The cable should form five loops with twisted ends returning to the TPK or barrier gate.

  1. c. Lane Configuration: Maintain a consistent 3.5-meter width, with a 1.5-foot buffer on either side of the barrier for operational space.

By following these detailed guidelines, car park management can achieve a reliable and efficient parking environment that enhances user experience and operational effectiveness.
